Mexico

I arrive in LA 1 May and decide pretty quickly I dont want to be in this city (30 mins). Something about 10km smog visibily and the smell of crack and urine got me on the train to San Diego pretty quick! After realising the Swine flu was the latest media prank I jumped on a whole bunch of busses till I got to the southern half of Mexico only stopping here..

Canyon del Cobre

Thats about as good as it gets, The non-Baja north of Mexico is hot, dry, dusty and pretty missable, but good to teach you lessons like, just one person having a machine gun is a good way to end an argument. Maybe that's a bit harsh, I missed Baja California.

Guanajuato

Heading south I tried to find somewhere open as the bloody pigs had shut down all the bars and half the restaurants it seemed. Guadalahara - shut, Zacatecas - should have been shut, Guanajuato - I can recommend, for all the pretty colours, tunnels and atmnosphere.

Mexico City

I got lost in La Condesa and had to be party to a bribe to get out. I found out it´s true you can bribe the Police for a fair amount of discretions, In fact you dont even have to offer the bribe, just bargain the amount.

Mexico city rivals LA for air quality. This is Teotihuacan just outside the city, pretty sick.

Paragliding Fortin de las Flores

I had to do something else after 2 weeks of ruins, museums and colonial cities so I chose this. I did my best to destroy my instructors Paraglider, but failed. This was my most fun day...

Land in the trees.

Stand in an ant nest trying to rescue the glider.

And try to untangle this.

Nice flying along the forested mountain side though

Palenque

Wow what a setting and a great setup this place is. A travellers paradise in the Jungle surrounded by ruins and waterfalls with a party every night.

I decided I better leave after falling off a Mayan temple in the Jungle in the pitch black dark, spraining one thumb and gashing the other. Don´t ask me to explain anymore than that (Mum) and that I was hanging round with these guys http://www.benandjoe.com

Heading off to Guatemala in a couple of days after some more bits and pieces. Mexico has been great but I´m really looking forward to dirt cheap Central America.
